Lux, the Magic Lantern
Brief character sketch.
A lantern with not nearly enough polish. Its current owner is a rough demon-child from another dimension, and evil to boot. Lux has survived a series of reckless handlers over the centuries, and it has got a lot to say on the topic.
A lot of things have tried doing away with me over the years, but the closest anyone has ever come was a snot-nosed contractor who thought I’d make for a brilliant addition to his grandmother’s curio closet. I was a flicker and a half away from ending myself out of sheer boredom.
Notice, how their eye gleams with unsaid admonishment.
It’s a tough rub, being a lantern and all. You pass through a lot of hands. Some good. Some dead. Some close to normal. Most aren’t normal. That’s because they’re all magicians, drawn to the magic lantern through fate or bad luck.
Mages have an uncanny habit of knowing, a sixth sense that tells them something fishy is going on. That special sense saved my previous contractors countless times… right up until it killed them.
Humans flame out quick. Better to get through existence with style and a sturdy sense of humor, according to Lux. Especially when you’re stuck with a demon-child on the banks of a sewage city and a killer magic academy.
